Children represent the largest share of the population living in poverty. 70% of the youth we serve in Martinsville and Henry Conty qualify for free and reduced lunches.

We serve: African American: 47%; Asian: 1%; Hispanic: 5%; Multi-Racial: 6%; Caucasian: 41%

Youth living in poverty or with a single parent are at greater risk for droppiing out of school. 45% of our youth are from single parent homes.

Studies show that juvenile violence peaks in the hour immediately after the end of the school day. 613 youth are members of our Clubs and 346 attend regularly.
