Boys & Girls Clubs of the Blue Ridge envisions our Movement as a catalyst for change, empowering our youth to make healthful choices – for life. Members are charged to be physically active regularly. Moreover, BGCA hopes members will inspire others in their Club and community to live healthy.
Sports, Fitness & Recreation
National Fitness Competitions provide members with the opportunity to participate in healthy physical fitness competitions designed to encourage a general state of health and well-being and develop the ability to perform various aspects of sports and recreation. These one-day events allow all members (once broken into groups by age group and gender) to participate in various fitness contests.
Triple Play Daily Challenges give youth the chance to play longer and harder at different games. These elements promote fun with a purpose and fitness year-round in a non-competitive yet challenging environment.
Taekwondo is one of the most systematic and scientific Korean traditional martial arts, that teaches more than physical fighting skills. It is a discipline that shows ways of enhancing our spirit and life through training our body and mind. Taekwondo is offered to our clubs.
